Give sorrow somewhere to grow.

After the service is over, when the final hymn has played and the chairs are being folded, there’s a quiet question that often lingers in the hearts of family and friends: What do we do with all these flowers?

At Cast Paper Art, we believe that even in grief, beauty can take root—and that the flowers gifted in love and sympathy should have the chance to live on. That’s why we created Floral Expressions, a one-of-a-kind sympathy gift that transforms funeral flowers into handmade, plantable note cards.

Yes—the very flowers used to honor a loved one’s life can become something living, something lasting. Pressed into seed paper and crafted by hand, these cards are designed to be planted in soil where they will bloom into wildflowers—an enduring tribute that grows from loss.

Why Floral Expressions Is So Meaningful

1. A Second Life for Sympathy Flowers

Rather than letting funeral arrangements wilt or be discarded, Floral Expressions offers a gentle alternative: preserve the petals, incorporate them into handmade paper, and allow them to bloom again. This simple act brings a sense of renewal and grace to a time that often feels empty.

2. A Personal and Healing Keepsake

Each card becomes a personal, living reminder. Families can keep a few to plant in remembrance gardens, or offer them to close friends and relatives who want to carry the memory forward in their own quiet way. Watching the flowers grow provides a soft space for healing.

3. Thoughtful and Sustainable

Our seed paper is crafted using recycled materials and embedded with wildflower seeds. By blending the actual flowers from the service into the paper, every card becomes both eco-conscious and uniquely tied to the life that was celebrated.

4. A Gentle Way to Offer Comfort

Whether you’re gifting a set to the family or helping coordinate them as part of the funeral planning process, Floral Expressions provides a way to say: This love doesn’t end here. It continues, growing slowly, sweetly—just like the wildflowers.

How to Prepare and Send Flowers for Floral Expressions

To begin the process, simply gather a small assortment of flowers from the funeral arrangements and allow them to dry completely before sending. The easiest way to do this is to lay the petals or small blooms flat between sheets of parchment or tissue paper, then place them inside a heavy book for 7–10 days. Be sure to store the book in a cool, dry space to avoid mold. Once the flowers are dry and crisp to the touch, you can send them to Cast Paper Art, where we’ll lovingly incorporate them into custom seed paper note cards.
